Washington - For a hiking trip, a life-threatening. A 28-year-old has survived nearly three weeks in a desert area in the U.S. state of Utah.

The Americans have mainly feeds on frogs and roots, the local radio station Fox8 reported on Saturday. Rescue teams estimate during his journey in the remote Escalante Desert had the man traveled more than 60 kilometers.

When police discovered him, he was so exhausted that he could no longer stand, told the Vice-Sheriff Ray Gardner. "In all my life I have not seen anyone so ausgemerkelt," said Gardner.

The man had disappeared on Thursday. The dog, who had gone with him on the walk, had left him in the course of days, it said.

Some might say he's gone nuts.

A 76-year-old man has decided to spend the latter part of his life in almost complete seclusion on the desert island Sotobanari -- and he's been naked almost the entire time.

Masafumi Nagasaki has lived on the island west of Japan's Okinawa prefecture for two decades, and has no plans to leave.

He told a photographer that he used to clothe himself when boats went by out of embarrassment, but now his vow of nakedness is going strong. He said he wanted to live alone -- besides a few trips a month for food and fresh water -- simply to get away from it all.
